As an experienced clinician of 30+ years, being an expert in ultrasound-guided vascular access has given me the ongoing desire to push the boundaries within my scope of practice and also assist and develop other healthcare professionals in their pursuit of a vascular access excellence.

Moving away from a traditional blind landmark technique to utilising state-of-the-art ultrasound practices, both in the pre-assessment phase for vessel health and preservation strategies but for direct vessel visualisation and intra-procedural monitoring, allows clinicians to make a succinct clinical decisions on which device is the most appropriate for the patient, for the required therapy and for the duration of treatment.

I am also a Flight Lieutenant in the RAAF Specialist Reserve posted with 3AME Squardon, aeromedical evacuation specialist unit. I have provided clinical education to the ADF Special Forces and Military Medicine programs to enhance healthcare provided in austere environments.
