Dr Matt Jones, MBBS, FRCA, has been a Consultant Anaesthetist in a large multi-site Hospitals in the South East of England since 2003. His specialist interest lies within the field of vascular access and ultrasound and has a recognised clinical commitment in this area as well as being the Trust Lead Clinician for Vascular Access, heading up an IV Access team of over 20 members. He is a board member of the UK NIVAS (National Infusion and Vascular Access Society) and has been placing all types of vascular access devices for over 20 years, developing new techniques and products as well as working with companies and organisations to improve the quality and safety of practice in all areas of vascular access. He regularly speaks at National and International conferences and has an active interest in teaching, training and service development, including pioneering new techniques and methods of service delivery, especially in relation to the application of ECG based central line tip location systems and promoting excellence in securement and fixation. He is a PICC Academy Network (PAN) accredited Trainer, endorsed by the World Vascular Access Foundation.
